Why CYO
CYO inspires young musicians of all skill levels to grow, excel, and shine on stage, including performances at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, our performance home.
Through small and large ensembles, professional coaching, master classes, retreats, tours, and competitions, we provide an enriching music program for students ages 5 to 22.

The 3-day CYO Annual Retreat fosters musical growth, strengthens bonds among the young musicians, and sets the tone for excellence and collaboration for a new performance season. CYO Performs at Carnegie Hall
The San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra led by Robert Gilson, conductor and music director, delivered a spectacular performance on the legendary Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall on June 21, 2024, as part of the Viennese Masters Orchestra Invitational. Their talent and passion captivated the audience, earning them thunderous standing ovations.
