​​During CYO Annual Giving, you can make a direct impact on music education for young musicians and give them the opportunity to grow, perform, and share their love of music with our community! For 69 years, the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra (CYO) has enriched the lives of aspiring young musicians, from the beginning of their ensemble experience to performing in a full symphony orchestra, through a stair-step music program designed to inspire and cultivate music excellence and appreciation. As we approach our 70th anniversary, we have reached an impressive number of new students who joined our CYO program this year!

 

We are proud of our many alumni who have continued studies at top music schools like Juilliard, Peabody, Curtis, Berklee, and Manhattan, and pursued successful music careers. Although a music career may not be the goal of every student, our program enhances competency in cognitive abilities, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and social connections - skills which provide a competitive advantage. Many continue to perform music through university and community orchestras and ensembles.

We are grateful to our generous families and community supporters who have faithfully contributed to CYO today and throughout the years. Gifts help CYO sustain our ability to perform in superb arts venues, such as the California Center for the Arts, Escondido and Carnegie Hall in New York, and face increasing costs for rehearsal spaces, music, instruments, equipment, and professional training.

 

With a commitment to offer affordable programs, we have not increased student tuition for two years and hope to sustain this in the future through generous financial gifts to CYO. In addition, there is an urgent need for donor-funded scholarships to support our students with financial need to join or continue in our music program. Your gift empowers more students to reach their full potential through music.
